On Wednesday, the US Coast Guard announced the recovery of “presumed human remains” from the wreckage of the ill-fated Titan submersible. The announcement came nearly a week after the catastrophic implosion of the vessel in the North Atlantic, which claimed the lives of all five men on board.
The Titan, a minivan-sized submersible, was en route to the century-old wreckage of the Titanic when disaster struck. The Marine Board of Investigation (MBI), in collaboration with international partner investigative agencies, is planning to transport the recovered evidence to a port in the United States aboard a U.S. Coast Guard cutter. Once in the U.S., the MBI will be in a position to conduct further analysis and testing on the evidence.
In addition to the physical evidence, presumed human remains have been meticulously recovered from the wreckage. These remains will undergo a formal analysis by U.S. medical professionals. This crucial step will provide further insights into the tragic incident and help in the ongoing investigation.
