Sometimes partisanship can be a good thing.
A recent article at Politico features a headline that may come across as ominous to some readers: “Republicans eye new front in education wars: Making school board races partisan.”
“How dare those dastardly Republicans” try to introduce partisanship in our schools?” many a casual reader may be inclined to say.
After all, the term “partisanship” has a negative connotation in political discourse, as to most people it means putting the interests of a political party above the good of the entire community. Say “partisanship,” and people conjure up a stubborn politician who refuses to even hear, much less work with, the other side when there’s common ground to be found…
